A board of directors is elected from amongst the companies that support ITF.

The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) has an observer status on the board, this position is currently being occupied by Bill Cattanach.
ITF also has an observer status on the board, this position is currently being occupied by David Liddle, Operations Director.
The board is responsible for ITF governance and the strategic direction of the company, in line with ITF members' aspirations. It meets formally at least four times a year.
