Marine Energy Collaboration Event in support of R&D Competition

A consortium building event will take place to support the collaborative R&D competition Marine Energy - Supporting Array Technologies, funded by the Technology Strategy Board, Scottish Enterprise and NERC. The event will be held at the Midland Hotel, Manchester, on 15th & 16th February.

This event will allow potential competition participants to network, discuss common areas of interest, work on potential project collaboration and help bring together consortium groups.

 Who Should Attend

Any organisation who is considering applying for funding under the ‘Marine Energy: Supporting Array Technologies’ competition. We welcome participation from innovative companies of all sizes as well as research, testing and academic organisations. Organisations already involved in the sector as well as those in parallel sectors such as offshore operations, defence, marine industries and marine science are all invited to bring cross-sector collaboration to life in marine energy.

Organisations should have capability or innovation that could be collaboratively applied to one or more of the call themes (see call brief for more detail on scope);

· Cabling in tidal streams

· Subsea electrical hubs

· Installation & maintenance vessels for tidal streams

· Navigation & collision avoidance

· Anti-fouling & corrosion

Other ideas will be considered in an open theme where significant cross-industry benefit for first arrays can be proven.

Day 1

Day 1 will provide background to the competition, informal networking time and opportunities for organisations to give short pitches of their capabilities to the group, and / or to show pull-up displays. During registration you will be asked if you would like to be considered for these opportunities. There will be a limited number of spaces available for both pitch sessions and exhibit space. As we want to ensure a balance of organisations per theme area, expressions of interest received will be considered and delegates will be notified of the outcome by 7th February.

Day 2

Day 2 will be a smaller, in-depth, facilitated day, focussing on tidal cabling and subsea hubs only. You may express an interest in attending this day if you have direct experience of, or innovative technical solutions for, tidal energy cabling systems or subsea electrical hubs. Due to limited numbers, attendance for this day will be confirmed separately and by 7th February. If you are interested in being considered for Day 2 please tick the relevant box when completing your registration.
